# Purpose
This Code of Conduct exists to foster an inclusive, respectful, and cooperative environment for all contributors and users of this free software project. Inspired by the ideals of the GNU Project, we strive to uphold freedom, equality, and community as guiding principles.
We believe that collaboration in a community of mutual respect is essential to creating excellent free software.
# Our Community Standards
We welcome everyone, regardless of:
- Gender identity or expression
- Race, ethnicity, or national origin
- Religion or lack thereof
- Sexual orientation
- Language, dialect, or accent
- Disability or age
- Experience level, education, or background
- Economic or social status
We value contributions from all individuals who support the principles of software freedom, user autonomy, and mutual respect.
# Our Commitments
As contributors and maintainers of this project, we pledge to:
- Create a welcoming environment for all people.
- Respect individual freedoms and differences.
- Encourage thoughtful discussion and peaceful resolution of disagreements.
- Uphold the rights of users and contributors to share, study, modify, and distribute software freely, as described in the Free Software Definition.
- Avoid behavior that excludes, demeans, or harasses others.
- Support and listen to marginalized voices in our communities.
# Kind Communication
Inspired by the GNU Kind Communications Guidelines (link), we encourage contributors to:
- Be kind and welcoming in all interactions.
- Assume good intent; remember that English is not everyone’s first language, and cultural norms differ.
- When correcting others, do so politely and constructively.
- Try to help others learn instead of criticizing harshly.
- Avoid sarcasm, flame wars, and personal insults.
Let us strive for communication that lifts others up rather than putting them down.
# Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are not acceptable:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind.
- Dismissive, demeaning, or derogatory comments.
- Personal attacks or threats.
- Sustained disruption of discussion or community activities.
- Any behavior that compromises the freedoms or dignity of others.
# Reporting and Resolution
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct:
- Please report it to the maintainers or a designated contact for the project.
- All reports will be handled confidentially and with respect.
- The project maintainers are committed to fair resolution and may take corrective actions if necessary, including warnings, temporary bans, or permanent exclusion from participation.
